Khayer –bek Complex

Estabished by price khayer-bek in 908 AH / 1502 Ad , one of the princes of sultan Al-Ghuri .Betraying the sultan in battle of marj deak, the Egyptians named him khayen-bek (meaning he traitor ) When the ottomans conquered Egypt the appointed him as ruler for five years until his death in 928 Ah / 1521 AD – His complex consist of ( the mosque – amausoleum – and a sabil )

 

Prince Alin Aq Palace

Built by Amir Alin Aq Al Hosami in 693 AH / 1293 AD , it was inhabited by several other Mamluk prince after him . Because of its location near Khayerbek's complex , khayerbek added it to the complex connecting them together by a corridor .

 

Tarabay Al –Sharif Complex

Prince tarabay Al-Sharif , one of the princes of sultan qaitbay built this complex in 909 AH/ 1503 AD. It consists of a mauso-leum  & a sabil .

 

Beit Al – Razzaz

One of the most beautiful Mamluk houses in Darb al Ahmar with 190 rooms . that dates back to sultan Qaitbay 14th century , Durring the Ottaman era it was inhabited by Ahmed Kathhoda el Razzaz wealth rich merchant after whom the house was named in 1960 the house was abandoned and then was restored between 1977 and 2007

 

Umm Al-Sultan Shaaban Mosquu and Madrasa :-

Dedicated by Sultan Shaaban to his mother Khwand Barkain 771 AH / 1369 AD.Khwand Barka was very benevolent and that's why people  loved her .After her death she was buried in the eastern dome of the Qiba wall and her son sultan shaaban was buried in the southern part

 

 

 

 

Aq Sunqor Mosque ( Blue Mosque )

The mosque was established in 747 AH / 1347 AD by Amir Aq Sunqor Alnasery one of – Al-Naser Muhammed Ibn Qalawun , mamluks  . In 1952 AD Ottoman prince Ibrahim Agha Elmostah –fzan conducted the largest restoration in the mosque history . He decoratedthe Qibla wall with blue ceramic tiles, and hence the name the Blue Mosque . It is one of three mosques carrying the name " Blue mosque "

 

The Mosque of Qijmas Ishaqi , also known as Abu Hariba mosque

A masterpiece of the Mamluk architecture , with rich ornamentation  and calligraphy Although founded bt prince Qijmas Al-Ishaqi , one of the mamluks of Sultan Al-Zaher Jaqmak in 884 / 1479 AH / AD 1344 AD. Prince Aslam was one of Sultan Al-Mansur Qalawun Mamluks.

 

Ahmed Al- Mahmender Mosque

It was established by Prince Shehab Al Deen Ahmed Al Mahmender captain of the Egyptian armies during the third period of the Sultante of nNasr Muhammad Ibn Qalawun in the year725 AH / 1324 AD .                           At the beginning it was built to be a madrasa and Khanqa . It was renewed by Prince  Soliman Agha Kazdoghi in 1135 HD  / 1722 AD who added a minaret and menbar to convert it into a mosque.

 

The Ayyubid wall and Bab Zuwaila

 First built of bricks by Jawhar The Sicilian in 358 AH / 969 AD and was demolished

 - In 480A.  H / 1087AD.  Badr Al Gamali renewed it, but erosion factors affected it. 

 - Then in 569 AH / 1171AD Salah - Al - Din AL Ayubi rebuilt it of limestone extending it, Among the important Gates of the Wall are: Bab Al Barqiah: from which messages were sent out by pigeons. 

 * Bab Al Qaratin;  that was used to deliver food for the cattle.  This Gate (or Bab), in the 13th century, while escaping from Egypt, Akati 's Mamluks burnt it and since then it was given its current name Bab Al Mahrouq (Burnt gate). 

* Bab Zuwaila: Where executions were implemented, of which the most famous is that of Toman Bey upon the orders of Mamluk Sultan Al Ghuri,

 

Zawyat and sabil Faraj Ibn Barqoq: -

This Zawya Was established wa by Sultan Faraj Ibn Barqouq , in 811 AH / 1408 AD architectural and artistic masterpiece that reflect the exquisite skills of Marluk craftsmanship. 

 

 Qasabat Radwan Bey (Al Khyiamia):

The Qasaba of Radwan Bey is considered as one of the oldest and most important Commercial establishments in the Ottman era.  It was established in the 11th Century AH / 17 AD. 

 

AI Saleh Tala 'i Mosque: -

 It was the last mosque built in the Fatimid period outside the gates of Fatimid Cairo in 555 AH / 1160 AD.  - Built by Saleh Tala 'i Ibn Ruzek the Armenian, who was a Minister during the reign of the Fatimid Khalif Al Faa ez Bellah.

 

AL - Tanbugha Al - Maridani Mosque:

 This mosque was established by Prince Al - Tanbugha Abdullah Al - Maridani, a senior prince during the reign of Sultan Al - Naser Muhammad Ibn Qalawun, built in 740 AH  / 1340 AD The mosque was left in a very bad condition, so the EU is fundding the restoration of the mosque in collaboration with the Ara Khan Cultural Services Egypt in partnership with the Minister of Antiquities.  The Restoration started in 2018
